Spider, Ikusi’s solution to ensure quality in airport management and operation under the concession model, is deployed at Santiago de Chile Airport

Its deployment constitutes a pioneering milestone and addresses the need to support the contractual relationship between the public owner and the private company within a concession business model

Ikusi has successfully deployed Spider at Nuevo Pudahuel, the new concession of the international airport of Santiago de Chile. Spider is an integration software tool designed to ensure quality in the management and operation of airport infrastructures, where the relationship between the public owner and the private company is supported by a concession business model.  

With the development of Spider, Ikusi has created the technological framework that addresses this increasingly widespread management model, which entails the need to set up a framework of relations between the public owner and the private consortium. The consortium is of course obliged to fulfil certain quality parameters that the owner (normally government bodies) has to guarantee so that it can meet the international standards established by bodies such as the ACI, the ICAO, IATA, etc.; such bodies are responsible for regulating the context in which the airport business and air transport have to be conducted.

From this perspective, the public owner needs to establish monitoring/audit measures allowing it to make sure that the concessionaire company is carrying out its activity in accordance with the quality parameters agreed.

Spider, Ikusi’s answer to the new model of airport management

Through the integration of existing data and systems, Spider monitors KPIs (key performance indicators) and compares them with the quality standards specified in the concession contract, such as waiting times, temperatures, baggage arrival times, terminal occupancy, etc.

Spider is an open platform providing the concessionaire (airport manager) with mechanisms designed to improve quality, through alarms, dashboards, KPIs, prediction modules and simulation tools such as what-if scenarios. Likewise, by using the same information, it generates a specific view that can be accessed by the owner of the infrastructure to be able to monitor, in real time, compliance with the indicators stipulated in the contract.

This innovative solution, designed by Ikusi, is already in operation at Nuevo Pudahuel, the new concession at Santiago de Chile International airport, whose public owner is the Chilean Ministry of Public Works. This is a pioneering milestone in public-private partnerships that ensures ongoing improvement and ultimately benefits passengers and tax payers.
