A remote expert

Medgaz is considered a strategic infrastructure by the European Union, and Ikusi actively seeks strategic sectors in which to accelerate digital transformation.

Together with its partner Cisco, Ikusi has designed a solution that significantly improves gas pipeline operations.

Medgaz is a 700+ kilometer underwater natural gas pipeline between Algeria and Spain. Due to its nature, it requires constant maintenance, supervision, and validation of technical procedures by experts—who are not always available onsite.

To address this, Ikusi implemented collaboration software on a headset with a front camera worn on the head or helmet. It enables videoconferencing while sharing visuals and documents so remote experts can guide or oversee fieldwork in real time.

The system is fully voice-controlled, allowing workers to keep their hands free while sharing their field of vision and voice with remote experts.

This solution, based on Cisco Expert on Demand and the Realwear HMT-1Z1 device, is applicable across many environments—from warehouses and production lines to retail branches, restaurants, banks, and more—offering benefits like increased productivity, process optimization, faster operations, cost savings, and compliance.
