The word ikusi means “to see” or “look” in Basque, the language of the Basque Country. It refers to the act of seeing, observing, or looking closely. It is also associated with the idea of understanding, anticipating, and having vision, which fits very well with the company’s technological positioning. Founded in 1971 in San Sebastián (Spain), it was born with a clear technological vocation and a vision ahead of its time: providing organizations with a better reading of complex systems, environments, and realities through technology. Today, it provides “observability,” cybersecurity, and advanced enterprise networks so that the largest organizations in Latin America and Europe can see, protect, and optimize their data in real time.

Ikusi, a leading company in advanced technological services and a Velatia firm, is celebrating more than half a century of evolution, consolidating a period of sustained growth. The company reports global revenue close to 200 million euros (approximately 230 million dollars), which translates into a 56% increase in its income since 2019.

This milestone is backed by a team of more than 1,000 professionals globally. Colombia has positioned itself as a key engine for this expansion, exceeding 170 specialists in the country and expanding its operations from Bogotá to Medellín, Cali, and Barranquilla.

“Our essence remains the same as 55 years ago: helping to ‘see.’ Only today we do not manufacture antennas, but rather offer connectivity, observability, and cybersecurity so that companies can digitize and protect their infrastructures in the digital era,” points out Mikel Jaurrieta, director of marketing and corporate communication at Ikusi.

The Leap Toward Managed Services in the AI Era

Given the rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence and the need for secure remote connectivity, Ikusi has evolved. The company has transitioned from a traditional infrastructure integrator to a strategic IT Managed Services partner in five areas: enterprise networks, cybersecurity, observability, data center and cloud, and collaboration tools.

Regarding this paradigm shift in technology consumption, Jaurrieta is emphatic: “With the acceleration of AI, it makes no sense to sell hardware that becomes obsolete in days. Our challenge is to be the partner that streamlines our clients’ IT spending through managed services and real-time observability, without them having to make exorbitant investments.”

For his part, César Villamil, general director of Ikusi Colombia, adds: “We base our differentiation on four pillars: customer proximity, technical specialization, deep knowledge of business environments, and a clear commitment to the early adoption of emerging technologies. This allows us to develop critical projects, guaranteeing effective solutions for the financial, retail, industrial, and telecommunications sectors.”

Local Trust: The Secret to Expansion in Latin America

Unlike traditional multinationals, Ikusi’s success in the region lies in decentralization and the empowerment of local talent.

“Our great secret in Latin America is full confidence in local talent. It is unusual for a European corporation not to have expatriates managing its subsidiaries, but for us it is vital: in Colombia, we are Colombians; all our management and staff are. This allows us to intimately understand the market and speak the same language as the client,” highlights Mikel Jaurrieta.

This technical and cultural synergy has consolidated global strategic alliances. Ikusi was recently recognized as a Preferred Partner in the new Cisco 360 Partner Program and has been consecutively awarded as Cisco’s Partner of the Year in Colombia (2023, 2024, and 2025).
