Campofrío builds a Factory 4.0
Campofrío’s Smart Factory ‘Nueva Bureba’ implements the key principles of Industry 4.0 to optimize the efficiency, flexibility, and agility of its operations.
Campofrío Food Group has incorporated the latest digital technologies into its new manufacturing plant. With a gross area of 99,000 square meters and an estimated production of 101,400 tons annually, the ‘Nueva Bureba’ factory represents a complete renovation that incorporates the latest technological innovations in the industrial sector.
Campofrío aimed to build a ‘smart’ factory capable of connecting machines, devices, sensors, and people in real-time. The company selected the Cisco Connected Factory solution to create a ‘Factory 4.0’ that would allow it to manage and optimize its business processes and make fully informed decisions.
This results in an IT (Information Technology) / OT (Operational Technology) convergence that, through Ethernet and IP, allows Campofrío to securely interconnect machines across the plant on a secure, reliable, and integrated platform. This facilitates process optimization, ensures production quality, and accelerates innovation.
Furthermore, real-time monitoring and analytics implemented according to ISA-95 and ISA-99 industry standards, the Cisco Connected Factory platform provides an automated interface between business and control systems, facilitating real-time monitoring and analytics. The goal is to provide Campofrío with optimized plant control, greater efficiency and flexibility, reduced downtime, and increased productivity cycles.
Local and remote access control to the factory’s networks, including users, devices, and location, also helps improve the company’s overall security for both its physical and digital assets.
The solution has been implemented by Cisco Advanced Services, in collaboration with Ikusi, Vodafone, and Bluefish, to provide Ethernet access, wireless, and industrial technologies and to integrate the convergent infrastructure. This is the first implementation of Cisco Connected Factory in Spain.
